1. _J_u_m_p__S_t_a_r_t
This release note documents Xinet Inc.'s AppleTalk network
Protocols and Services software package. This product enables
file and printer sharing with Macintoshes and other AppleTalk-
aware machines.
The entire suite of AppleTalk services are controled by the
_a_p_p_l_e_t_a_l_k chkconfig(1m) option. If you are installing this
software yourself, it will be turned on automatically. If it
was pre-installed by SGI, you may need to run the commands:
chkconfig appletalk on
/etc/init.d/atalk start
to enable and start the package.
AppleTalk services are configured and tested using a set of GUI
administration programs accessed through the _S_y_s_t_e_m item in
the _T_o_o_l_C_h_e_s_t menu. Command-line programs are installed in
/usr/etc/appletalk, and configuration, database and log files
are located in /var/adm/appletalk.
In addition to installed _m_a_n(1) pages, there is an Insight Guide
that documents the features of the various AppleTalk services.
If you have a CD from Xinet, it contains an HTML version of the
documentation which may be more up to date than the installed
Insight version. Printed manuals are available from:
